Dear change makers of CIF,
The last two years have been anything but easy. The pandemic took lives and paved the way for the exploitation of many. However, amidst all this, you have proven time and again that you are the living definition of empowerment.
Though we celebrate you each day, today on the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child I wish to reiterate how proud the Children of India Foundation is of you all. You are the reason why we do what we do because every day you inspire us by outdoing your circumstances and shining brightly amidst challenges.
Kishoris of Children GOOD, the spark that you carry in your eyes to fight the discrimination against the Devadasi system is the reason behind the positive transformation taking place in the districts of Karnataka.
Girls of Balmach, The Mica Project’s children’s club, your conviction to not give into child labour but rather become advocates of child rights, has saved many young lives from exploitation in the mica belt of Jharkhand.
Early Married Girls of IMAGE, you have chosen to break the shackles of child marriage and to be the torch bearers in fighting for your cause. Your movement towards a child-marriage-free society has enlighted clans of communities who now believe in the power of school books rather than the weight of the wedding garland.
On behalf of CIF, I want to congratulate you all on how far you have come. I am excited about your journey towards success and the doors you will open through your commitment to be the change you want to see in the world.
Happy International Day of the Girl Child!
